Professor Moulay-Lahssan Baya Essayahi from the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada, welcomes postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) in 2021 at this University. Brief description of the institution:

The University of Granada (UGR), founded in 1531, is one of the largest and most important universities in Spain. With over 60.000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and 6.000 staff. UGR offers a total of 89 degrees, 110 master’s degrees and 28 doctoral programmes through its 123 departments and 27 centers. Consequently, the UGR offers one of the most extensive and diverse ranges of higher education programmes in Spain.

The UGR has awarded with the "Human Resources Excellence in Research (HRS4R)", which reflects the UGR’s commitment to continuously improve its human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. UGR is also a leading institution in research, located in the top of Spanish universities by a variety of ranking criteria, such as national R&D projects, fellowships awarded, publications, or international funding. Brief description of the Centre/Research Group:

Research Group HUM 835 - Translation, Knowledge and Culture

The group HUM 835 was created on February 1, 2006 and I am its principal investigator since January 2011.

The main objectives of the group are basically focused on the study and analysis of concepts and phenomena so common today in our society, such as interculturalism, immigration or integration, through the development and improvement of tools and techniques appropriate for these purposes, such as cultural mediation, translation and interpretation, linguistic, sociolingistics, studies or journalistic discourse.

The group HUM-835, in addition to its main lines of research, the lines of research, which we present below, is also interested in the study of aspects related to the Arabic language, such as dialectology, linguistic and legal advice to the immigrants, Hispanic-Arab relations, Arab popular culture, the media and the Arab world or the Andalusian Arab cultural heritage, among others.

Project description:

The Arabo-Andalusian cultural legacy: past and present

Study and research on this rich legacy, through the analysis, translation and interpretation of historical, legal and scientific documents, in order to disseminate them for better study and use.
